One killed after car crashes into South Sacramento home following shooting

One person was killed after shooting in South Sacramento led to a car crashing into a home Monday night.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said two 24-year-olds were involved in a shooting at the intersection of Forest Parkway and East Parkway. The pair then drove several blocks before crashing into a home on J Parkway.

According to the department, the passenger knocked on the door of a nearby home asking for help. The male victim was suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies who responded to the scene found he had been shot in the upper torso.

Upon locating the car that had crashed into the South Sacramento home, deputies found the second 24-year-old victim in the driver's seat. Sacramento Metro Fire officials pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The other victim, originally the passenger of the car, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

There is no known motive or suspect description at this time. Homicide detectives are beginning their investigation.

The victim's name will be made public by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
