AUBURN, Calif. — Police are investigating a deadly collision involving a pedestrian Thursday night in the Auburn area.
Few details surrounding the collision have been released at this time, but the California Highway Patrol said the crash happened on eastbound Interstate 80 at Russell Road.
According to CHP, a pedestrian was trying to cross from westbound to eastbound when they were hit along the lanes of I-80.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police have closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 and are diverting drivers to the Russell Road exit. Drivers can re-enter the freeway at Foresthill Road.
