STANISLAUS COUNTY, California — A pedestrian died early Thursday morning after being hit by a pickup truck on Highway 33 in Stanislaus County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened just before 5 a.m. on Highway 33, north of McCracken Road.
CHP says its initial investigation found a 58-year-old from Stockton was driving southbound on the highway in his pickup truck when he hit an unidentified man walking on the road.
The highway was temporarily closed between McCracken and Welty roads.
CHP says drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in the crash. The pedestrian’s location before the crash is still under investigation.
