TRUCKEE, Calif. — Two people died in a plane crash in Truckee Saturday night, according to the Truckee Tahoe Airport.
The crash happened in the area of Glenshire Drive and Olympic Boulevard around 6:38 p.m. near the railroad tracks and Truckee River, according to the Truckee Fire Department.
The plane, a single-engine TBM, was trying to land at the Truckee Tahoe Airport, according to officials. Flight tracker software shows the plane took off from the Centennial Airport in Colorado.
Fire officials say the railroad tracks were damaged and crews are working to assess the extent of said damage and start repairs.
Emergency responders are going to be working in the area for an "extended period of time," according to the Truckee Police Department. They say there is no threat to buildings or any road closures at this time.
It's unclear at this time what caused the crash, if there were any others on board or if there are any additional injuries.
An investigation is underway by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
