STOCKTON, CA - Police in the Stanislaus County town of Ceres need help finding the man who assaulted a 13-year-old girl as she walked to Cesar Chavez Middle School Tuesday morning.

It was about 7 a.m. when the man grabbed the girl from behind. Police said she responded perfectly.

"The 13-year-old yelled, screamed, and kicked and got away and called police," said Ceres Sgt. Jose Berber.

The man is described as hispanic, in his mid to late 20's, and nearly 6 feet tall. He had a beard and was wearing black sweat plants and a black hoodie jacket.

"We want to ask the community for help, especially parents who are taking kids to schools," Berber said. "If they see anyone matching this description, or someone suspicious around the school where kids take routes, to call us immediately."
