Stanislaus County probation officer accused of recording woman in Target dressing room

Deputies said the woman was in the fitting room and trying on clothes when she noticed a cell phone over the door.

RIVERBANK, Calif. — A Stanislaus County Probation Corrections Officer is accused of recording a woman changing in a Target fitting room.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, it happened Nov. 12. A 21-year-old woman was shopping at the Riverbank Target and trying on clothes in the fitting room when she saw a cell phone above the door.

Deputies said she put on her clothes and walked out to confront the man, but he went into a neighboring fitting room and pretended to be trying on shoes. She was able to confront him and told him to delete the video, but the man ran away, deputies said.

Deputies were able to identify the man's car and license plate through surveillance video. It led to them to Adrain Machuca, 29, of Waterford.

Deputies said he's an employee of the Stanislaus County Probation Department as a Probation Corrections Officer. The department cooperated with the investigation and Machuca was taken into custody at work on Nov. 19.

Machuca was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of matters depicting sexual conduct and invasion of privacy. He posted bail at $51,000 and was released.

It's not clear if there were other victims. According to deputies, Machuca no longer has access to the department facilities or incarcerated youth since being arrested.

"This in no way is reflective of the positive work that the men and women of the Stanislaus County Probation Department do every day to ensure our community remains safe. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners at the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office to ensure that this situation is fully investigated. Any additional questions regarding this matter should be directed to County Counsel at (209) 525-6376," the probation department said in a statement.
