Rancho Cordova man sentenced to life for 2020 house party double-murder

Prosecutors say he shot and killed two hosts of a house party after his friend was robbed by two unknown men.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A Rancho Cordova man convicted last year of killing two 18-year-olds after a robbery will spend the rest of his life in prison.

According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Andrew Granderson was sentenced this week to life in prison without parole. He was convicted in October of a 2020 double murder.

CASE HISTORY

The victims, Joseph Ash and Micah Nero, were hosting a party at Ash’s apartment at the River Blu apartments off Highway 50 near Watt Avenue in November 2020.

Prosecutors say the party was open to the public and advertised on Snapchat.

Andrew Granderson and a friend were supposed to attend the party, but his friend arrived first and two unknown men stole his jewelry.

Nero walked Granderson’s friend to his car and later the friend told Granderson what happened.

Granderson wanted to return to the party where he shot and killed Ash and Nero as they opened the front door. Neither Ash nor Nero were identified as the jewelry robbers in this case.

Granderson was arrested in Las Vegas in May 2021.
