SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash that killed one woman and injured three other people.
According to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office, the person arrested is Owen Cruz, a 33-year-old man. Officials say Cruz was taken to the hospital to be treated for injures. He is facing charges of driving under the influence causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter involving alcohol/drugs.
The office said the crash happened on Douglas Boulevard and Borderlands Drive and it was a hit-and-run. The crash prompted road closures on Westbound Douglas Boulevard near Security Park Drive.
Sacramento Metro Fire said all four people, two adults and two children, were in the same vehicle. The sheriff's office said witnesses help locate the suspect after he fled on foot and was hiding at a nearby construction site.
The three others who went to the hospital were treated for minor injuries. The woman who died was the driver of the vehicle.
The Rancho Cordova Police Department is investigating the crash.
