According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, a Toyota Sequioa went off the right-hand shoulder of Highway 50 and down an embankment, east of Watt Avenue, around 7 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said it's not clear why the driver started to veer off the road, but it led to them hitting a metal guardrail and and going down the dirt embankment.

The accident is under investigation, and it's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
