RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Three people are in the hospital and two pets are dead following an early morning house fire in Rancho Cordova.
According to fire officials at the scene, the fire started around 3:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in the front of a home along the 3000 block of Evadna Drive. Firefighters had the fire out within 15 minutes, but expect to be on the scene for several hours because of "flammable items" in the home.
The three people who escaped were transported to a hospital and are expected to be fine. Fire officials said because the residents had doors to rooms in the house closed before the fire started, the fire was contained and limited its ability to spread throughout the house.
Fire officials said because those doors were closed, it helped save the lives of the residents.
