RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A man was killed in a Rancho Cordova shooting, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said a man walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound just after midnight. He later died.

Gandhi said people told deputies the man was at a gathering or party near Viking Drive and Egmont Way.

"We don't know if the folks actually knew each other or if it was one of those random flyer parties or if it was something small, we're trying to piece all that together," Gandhi said.

There's no information on what led up to the shooting or any information about a possible shooter. The sheriff's office said they are investigating it as a homicide.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
