A Verizon customer service and telesales call center in Rancho Cordova announced today it will be closing its doors, effective January 27, 2017.
The closure will impact more than 1,000 employees.
The 700 customer service and 300 telesales employees will have the option to relocate to other Verizon call centers, said Heidi Flato, a Verizon spokeswoman.
Employees are also being given then option to visit call centers in Irving, Texas, Greenville, South Carolina and Tampa, Florida to explore the area and new work environment. Those employees will be offered a $500 stipend to defray travel costs, Flato said.
The company is offering $10,000 in relocation assistance for those who transfer to another center.
Eligible employees unable to relocate or who do not secure other assignments with the company will be offered individualized separation packages and outplacement help, Flato said.
