RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. — A man driving a Hyundai died after a chase led to a crash in Rancho Murieta, California Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
Four other people were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital, according to California Highway Patrol.
According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the crash was reported around 8:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Jackson Road and Murieta Parkway.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident was connected to a report of a Hyundai Elantra speeding in Amador County just before 8 p.m.

The Hyundai continued onto Highway 49 and onto westbound Highway 16 into Sacramento County, eventually approaching Murieta Parkway. California Highway Patrol said the Hyundai was a stolen vehicle.
Officials said a man driving the Hyundai was going about 80 mph when it collided with a woman driving a Rivian RS1 southbound on Murieta.
The Hyundai caught fire after the collision, and a CHP officer got the driver and a woman passenger out of the car to a safe area. Both people in the Hyundai had major injuries and were taken to a hospital, according to California Highway Patrol. The man later died at a hospital, officials said. His name hasn't been released.
In the Rivian, the driver and two passengers, a man and a woman, had moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital.
The crash is under investigation and it's unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
