Rangers search for overdue backpacker in Yosemite National Park

Officials say the man planned a backpacking trip in the area from Aug. 23-27 but has been overdue for two weeks.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Rangers at Yosemite National Park are trying to find an overdue backpacker in the Ostrander Lake area.

Park rangers said Kirk S. Thomas Olsen planned a backpacking trip in the area from Aug. 23-27 but has been overdue for two weeks.

He's described as a 61-year-old man, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

Rangers are asking anyone in the area between Aug. 24 and Aug. 27 who saw Olsen to call the ISB tip line at 888-653-0009. People who were also in the area at that time and did not see him are also asked to reach out.
