Remains found after mobile home fire in Tuolumne County

The Tuolumne County Fire Department says the fire was at a mobile house along the 23000 block of Italian Bar near Columbia.

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, Calif. — Remains were found after a mobile house fire in Tuolumne County Saturday night.

Air and ground resources from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a house fire around 6:30 p.m. along the 23000 block of Italian Bar near Columbia.

Firefighters arrived to find the home in flames. Officials said the fire moved to vegetation near the house. The fire burned the whole house and about 0.1 acres of nearby land.

Officials then found remains within the burned area.

The identity and cause of death will be released by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
