ROCKLIN, Calif. — Rocklin Police arrested a 4-month-old girl's mother in connection to the infant's homicide, the department said Saturday.
Police were called to an apartment unit in the 3000 block of Parkside Drive around 2:10 a.m. Saturday to do a welfare check.
Once inside the apartment unit, officers say they found the 4-month-old baby unresponsive. Despite trying to save the baby's life, police say she was eventually pronounced dead.
Officers arrested the infant's mother, 30-year-old Jazmin Johnson. She was booked into South Placer County Jail on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter and assault of a child under eight years of age.
Police say they are still in the early stages of the investigation but have classified it as a homicide.
