Deadly crash under investigation along westbound I-80 in Rocklin

To avoid traffic, drivers can take Sierra College Boulevard to Douglas Boulevard and get back on westbound I-80.

ROCKLIN, Calif. — A pedestrian died after a crash along westbound Interstate 80 in Rocklin Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on westbound I-80 between Rocklin Road and Highway 65. California Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was trying to cross I-80 east of Highway 65 and was hit by multiple vehicles. The pedestrian died and their identity hasn't been released.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office said westbound I-80 was closed just west of Rocklin Road but has since reopened. California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Drivers may experience delays in the area.

Traffic was backed up to Sierra College Boulevard at one point Tuesday morning while first responders were clearing the area. Cars were at a standstill for several hours Tuesday. To avoid some of the traffic, drivers can take Sierra College Boulevard to Douglas Boulevard and get back on westbound I-80.
