Sacramento to open roller rink downtown. It runs through September

Community leaders will cut the ribbon to open the outdoor Downtown Sacramento Roller Rink at Ali Youssefi Square on K Street Friday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A roller rink opens Friday in downtown Sacramento.

At 10 a.m., community leaders will cut the ribbon to open the outdoor Downtown Sacramento Roller Rink at Ali Youssefi Square on K Street, according to a news release. After the ribbon cutting, the rink immediately opens to skating and school groups. It opens to the public starting at noon.

The rink stays open June 28 through Sept. 17.

Hours of operation are 2-9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. It is closed Mondays.

Tickets are $10 for children 6 and under. All other tickets are $20. Admission includes skate rental.

HOF, a Sacramento entertainment company, and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership are hosting the event. HOF was established in 2008 and the partnership has served downtown since 1995.

“We envision this roller rink becoming a source of pride for our community, bringing us closer together as we embrace all the wonderful activities our city has to offer," said Damian Lynch, co-owner of HOF, in a statement. "We can't wait to welcome thousands of attendees throughout the summer, and our goal is to establish a successful model for this inaugural event, ensuring that the fun continues for many summers to come."

Michael Ault, executive director of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, said now more than ever cities should invest in their communities.

“We’re eager to increase our collaboration with local creators to continue a more people-centered destination downtown, and a summertime outdoor roller rink fits that vision perfectly,” Ault said.
