2 dead, 1 detained in Granite Bay as Placer County deputies investigate homicide

Law enforcement’s sole suspect surrendered after deputies responded to a home on Oak Leaf Way. Upon entering, authorities found two dead bodies: a man and woman.

GRANITE BAY, Calif. — Deputies are conducting a homicide investigation after two people were found dead and a suspect was detained Monday in Granite Bay.

Just after 8 a.m., the Placer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home along Oak Leaf Way and believed a man in his mid-30s was inside, deputies said. Law enforcement were unable to establish contact with the man, and the sheriff’s office special enforcement team (SET) and crisis negotiators were called to the scene.

Around 11:45 a.m., the man allegedly surrendered and was detained. Deputies said they then entered the home and found a man and woman dead.

The sheriff’s office said it’s examining their deaths as a homicide, and the man detained is law enforcement’s sole suspect.

Oak Leaf Way from Macduff Drive to just south of Lou Place was closed during the incident.
