PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A man is facing murder charges in a Placer County fentanyl death, according to the Placer County District Attorney's Office.
Brandon Garner was arrested on suspicion of several charges in addition to murder, including transporting or selling a controlled substance and purchasing or possessing a controlled substance for sale, among others. He is accused of selling fentanyl which resulted in a person's death.
The 42-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 9. Garner is being held without bail.
This is the fourth case the district attorney's office has filed murder charges in for a fentanyl death in Placer County.
On October 10, the first person in California to be convicted of murder for a fentanyl-related death was in Placer County. Nathaniel Cabacunga was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in the death of a 15-year-old from Roseville, according to the Placer County District Attorney's Office.
