Classes resume at Creekview Ranch School near Roseville after bomb threat

Parents and guardians were set to return to the school later Wednesday evening for back-to-school night, but it will be rescheduled.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Students at Creekview Ranch School near Roseville returned to class Wednesday after being evacuated due to a bomb threat.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office said deputies swept the campus using explosives detection dogs and determined it was safe for students to return to class.

The sheriff's office asked parents and guardians not to come to the school. Students who were picked up by parents include those in the special education program.

"My stomach dropped and the first thing I thought of was: 'How is this happening at a school, these are babies, these are children.' I'm still trying to understand how a bomb threat is possible right now, but again I'm just really appreciative of all the steps they're taking — what they're doing. The sheriff has been amazing at coming over and keeping us parents updated so I'm just really thankful for the staff here at Creekview and thankful for all the sheriff, but as a mom, I couldn't feel sicker right now," a mom at Creekview Ranch School told ABC10.

Parents and guardians were set to return to the school later Wednesday evening for back-to-school night, but it will be rescheduled.

The first day of school for the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District was Aug. 8. Creekview Ranch offers transitional kindergarten to 8th grade. There are few details available about the bomb threat and the sheriff's office is investigating.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
