PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — A minor was arrested for emailing a bomb threat to Creekview Ranch School near Roseville that resulted in evacuations and a canceled back-to-school night.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office said deputies traced the email to a minor who was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. There was no evidence the person had the means to carry out the threat.
Around 800 students were evacuated to a safe location Wednesday while deputies secured the school.
"We also want to thank the community for their understanding and support as we worked to ensure no one was in danger," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post.
The sheriff's office said it wouldn't release any more information such as the minor's identity or if they attended Creekview Ranch School.
The first day of school for the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District was Aug. 8. Creekview Ranch School offers transitional kindergarten to 8th grade.
