Man arrested, accused of homicide after woman found dead in car along Highway 50 in Camino

CHP officers said they found the woman, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, inside a Chevrolet truck along eastbound Highway 50.

CAMINO, Calif. — A Sacramento man was arrested and accused of homicide after a woman was found dead in a vehicle early Saturday morning in Camino, authorities said.

Just after 6:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) Placerville area officers said they responded to a report of a disabled Chevrolet truck on eastbound Highway 50, east of Snows Road. The vehicle was on the right shoulder, officers said.

“Inside, they found a female occupant who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene,” CHP wrote in a news release.

CHP officers arrested a 38-year-old Sacramento man in connection with the homicide, and he was taken into custody without incident, authorities said. CHP said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation has been supported by multiple law enforcement agencies. Officers said anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist in the investigation is urged to contact the Placerville CHP office at 530-748-2450.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time,” CHP said.
