One person killed following reported explosions, fire at Roseville home

According to the Placer County Sheriff's Department, neighbors reported hearing “several explosions” coming from the home just before the fire started.

Police are investigating a deadly house fire in a West Roseville neighborhood.

It happened just after 8 a.m. at a home in the 3500 block of Hazeltine Lane. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Department, neighbors reported hearing “several explosions” coming from the home just before the fire started.

Two people were inside the home at the time the fire started. One of the occupants was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s department. The condition of the second occupant has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire and source of the reported “explosions” have not been determined. Authorities say Hazeltine Lane and Eagle Springs Court will be closed “most of the day” while crews investigate the scene.
