86th Placer County Fair happening this week

The Placer County Fair starts Thursday, June 20 and lasts through Sunday, June 23 at @the Grounds in Roseville.

CALIFORNIA, USA — The 86th Placer County Fair is happening this week in Roseville.

It starts Thursday, June 20 and lasts through Sunday, June 23 at @the Grounds. This year's theme for the longest-running event in Placer County is "A Community Mosaic," to celebrate the diversity of the county.

This year, the fair is extending its hours and opening five hours earlier than previous years on Saturday.

“More Fair equals more fun,” said Kim Summers, CEO of Placer Valley Tourism and @the Grounds in a statement. “The quality of the Fair has improved every year, and the additional hours will allow more people to enjoy and experience the Fair.”

It'll be open Thursday and Friday from 5-11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m., according to Placer Valley Tourism.

There will be about 25 rides at the fair and the event will be divided into two areas separating the adult-geared rides from the children-friendly ones. Carnival ride wristbands are $30 for the discounted price, which is available through June 19.

The livestock portion of the fair is a tradition and will feature baby chicks and pygmy goats along with 1,000-pound steer.

“The livestock barns are always among the most popular and busiest areas of the Fair,” Summers said in a statement. “It really goes back to what a county fair is all about and has been for generations.”

There's also the livestock auction Saturday morning. Last year, it reached almost $400,000.

The All-American Speedway will be converted into a half-mile dirt and gravel track for Supermoto, which will feature about 50 professional motorcycle racers from around the country. The heats and main events will be Saturday afternoon and evening. It's included with fair admission. VIP tickets are also available for $50 HERE.

The fair set a record last year with more than 23,000 visitors.
