ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A Roseville sandwich shop made the list of Yelp’s ‘Top 100 U.S. Restaurants 2024.'
Guy's for Lunch ranked #18 out of Yelp's top restaurants. The husband and wife team, Guy and Kathy Manwaring, own the sandwich shop and say they are grateful to their supportive customers.
Guy Manwaring says the chicken salad and pulled pork are "unlike any other out there." The regular chicken salad is made with chicken, chopped Fuji apple, celery and onion.
"We are also known for our homemade turkey chili, chicken noodle soup and Mac salad. Our chocolate chip cookies are baked daily and some of our customers come in for the cookie and get a sandwich to go along with it," Manwaring told ABC10.
There's also a secret menu with items featuring the chicken salad like the "Guys Over the Top Chicken Salad" made with house-made jalapeno sauce, spicy mustard and bacon; and "The Foodie" made with salami, Swiss cheese, pepperoncini, spicy mustard and bacon.
Other options include veggie along with Italian and meatball sandwiches. Manwaring says people can also get a salad with homemade croutons.
He says they are often asked if they make their bread. He said they get it par-baked and bake it throughout the day to make sure it's fresh.
The couple opened the sandwich shop in 2015 and haven't looked back since.
"We chose to live without the regrets that often are realized once you age," Guy Manwaring told ABC10. "We wanted to work with family and be willing to take a chance and be able to do what we are really passionate about. We are a family business, Kathy and I work with our daughter Brooke every day along with our other two daughters part-time."
Manwaring says he wants to make everyone feel welcome and like they're with family.
"For us it's like entertaining guests every day. We are proud of our creations and love to share them with friends. Kathy, my wife, decorated the place to be very inviting and comfortable, for us it's like home," Manwaring wrote in the Yelp description.
Guy's for Lunch is located at 1249 Pleasant Grove Boulevard and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find the menu HERE and order online HERE.
Two other Northern California restaurants also made Yelp's list, including Pizzeria Luba in Auburn and Zest Mediterranean Cuisine in Folsom.
