ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A new taco shop opened Monday in Roseville.
Masa Masa is a women-owned restaurant located in the Village Westpark shopping center in West Roseville. The restaurant has been in the works for nearly two years, according to chef and co-owner Emily Torres.
"Masa Masa is literally in our backyard and Roseville is our forever home. We knew what kind of taco shop Roseville needed because we are Roseville residents ourselves," Torres previously told ABC10.
They offer house tacos including a Korean beef taco with an Asian pear marinated ribeye topped with kimchi, pickled cucumber and carrots, green onion, and red chili crema; a hot chicken taco with fried chicken dipped in hot chili oil topped with pickles, slaw, and spicy ranch, among others.
There are also street tacos including a quesabirria taco with slow-braised beef and Monterey jack topped with cilantro, pickled red onion and cilantro lime crema alongside a bone broth consommé and an al pastor taco with pineapple and chili marinated shaved pork topped with roasted pineapple, cilantro, and red onion, among others.
There will also be drinks including beer, wine and a frozen blackberry sangria with a house-made mango puree. Find the full menu HERE.
"We hope the details in the building like the hand-painted mural by a local artist and the viewing area for guests to watch tortillas being made show the love that goes into our restaurant," Torres previously told ABC10.
Torres said she and her wife and co-owner, Ashlie Millington, have been in the restaurant industry for more than 15 years and have worked several positions spanning from line cook to general manager.
Masa Masa has a unique mission extending outside the restaurant. Torres told ABC10 her wife was diagnosed with leukemia while the couple was working to open the restaurant. This inspired what they call the Be Kind movement. On the menu, each taco has a specific charity that will receive proceeds with the purchase of the taco.
Masa Masa is located at 2310 Pleasant Grove Boulevard Suite 130. It's open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. once the restaurant opens. Find more information HERE.
