Cleaning chemicals cause hazmat incident, evacuation at Roseville restaurant

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A Roseville restaurant was evacuated after cleaning chemicals caused at least nine people to get sick.

The Roseville Fire Department said firefighters were called out to the 1800 block of Douglas after two patrons felt light headed and nauseous around 7:40 p.m. After crews arrived and investigated, they found more patients and the building was evacuated.

At least nine patients were found, with one of them being taken to the hospital and two taking themselves to the hospital. The others left the scene.

Fire officials said there were cleaning chemicals causing noxious fumes and an unsafe environment in the area. Crews are attempting address the issue.
