Roseville man found guilty of killing roommate in 2022

When officers arrived at the home, they found Bacon's roommate lying on the floor of the living room with a broken-off knife blade stuck in his torso.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A Roseville man was found guilty Tuesday of killing his roommate in 2022.

According to the Placer County District Attorney's Office, 36-year-old Ryan Bacon was convicted of stabbing his roommate 17 times in their home.

The stabbing happened in June 2022 along Loretto Drive. When officers arrived at the home, they found Bacon's roommate lying on the living room floor with a broken-off knife blade stuck in his torso.

Officers later found Bacon walking along Douglas Boulevard with the knife handle in his pocket. The district attorney's office said Bacon admitted to killing his roommate in a police interview.

The trial began in April 2024. Bacon is set to be sentenced on June 20, 2024.

Case History

On June 15, 2022, around 12:20 p.m., the Roseville Police Department and Roseville Fire Department responded to reports of a man down inside a home on the 400 block of Loretto Drive.

The man died at the scene and police said his death was suspicious.

The next day, on June 16, Bacon was arrested in connection to the suspicious death. He was roommates with the man.

According to court documents, in January 2019, Bacon was charged with a felony count of making criminal threats, a felony count of resisting an executive officer and a misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. In April 2019, Bacon was booked into jail.
