Construction for Roseville Transit electric bus charging at Galleria to start in 2024

Construction is set to start in 2024 and be completed by late 2024 or early 2025.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Construction is set to start next year for two electric bus chargers at the Westfield Galleria Mall in Roseville.

As Roseville continues to transition its fleet to electric buses, an on-route bus charger will allow the buses to continue service throughout the day. Construction is set to start in 2024 and be completed by late 2024 or early 2025.

The bus chargers will initially charge buses on a new service called Rapid Link. The route's start date depends on the completion of the bus chargers. It will run on weekdays with 30-minute service between Lincoln, Roseville and the Sacramento Regional Transit light rail stations on I-80 and Watt Avenue.

Roseville Electric Utility will supply power to the overhead chargers, according to the city.

"The switch from clean diesel to fully electric buses will lower emissions as well as fuel and maintenance costs," the city wrote in a news release.

The California Air Resource Board requires all transit fleets to be converted to zero-emissions vehicles by 2040.
