ROSEVILLE, Calif. — An all-girls volleyball tournament is set to bring $1.3 million to multiple economies in Placer County, including Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln.
The tournament is happening Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 at the Roebbelen Center located @the Grounds in Roseville. About 165 teams are set to participate. Some of them have traveled from Arizona and Washington, according to Placer Valley Tourism.
“The Capital City Clash just keeps getting bigger and better, and greatly benefits businesses in the community during what is often a slower season for tourism,” said Kim Summers, Chief Executive Officer of Placer Valley Tourism and @the Grounds, in a statement. “It also helps showcase Placer Valley and the Roebbelen Center.”
The economic boost to the region comes from booked hotel rooms, meals at restaurants and shopping in the area, according to Placer Tourism.
The two-day tournament features players 12-18 years old and it's one of the largest on the West Coast.
“It’s great competition that brings a lot of teams from outside the area,” said Chas Konopka, Director and Coach of Club Uptempo in Chico and volleyball coach at Chico High School in a statement. The club plans to bring half of its eight teams to the tournament. “Players get to see what else is out there. It’s also a great venue to see what tournaments can look like.”
