ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Roseville city officials are warning residents Friday about a sinkhole that formed in a street, according to a social media post.
The sinkhole is on westbound Cirby Way between Riverside Avenue and Vernon Street and is being repaired.
Officials strongly encourage everyone stay clear of the area and find alternative routes to their destinations to ensure everyone is safe and to "avoid any potential hazards."
Sinkholes don't normally form in the California Central Valley, but the reoccurring atmospheric rivers are causing some to form. They usually are created by rock below the surface being naturally dissolved by water, eventually leading to a hole to form once the surface collapses, according to the United States Geological Survey.
