Viral Stanley cup stealer accused of felony grand theft

She's accused of stealing 65 Stanley cups valued at about $2,500 from stores in Roseville.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A Sacramento woman who went viral after being accused of stealing dozens of Stanley cups was charged with felony grand theft.

The Placer County District Attorney's Office identified the woman as 23-year-old Delany Garcia-Lopez. She's accused of stealing 65 Stanley cups valued at about $2,500 from a store in Roseville on Jan. 17, according to the Roseville Police Department.

The district attorney's office said she appeared in court and was arraigned. 

“Placer County has and always will take theft seriously.  Our community will not stand for people stealing from our local businesses,” said Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire in a statement. “Our office is committed to working with our local law enforcement partners, our business community, and residents to combat this issue and hold criminals accountable.”

Garcia-Lopez's bail was set at $150,000 and a GPS, or ankle monitor, was required. She is still in custody as of noon on Jan. 23.
