Two recent incidents in which older men have been stabbed while walking in the same area of Sacramento are believed to be related, police investigators say.
Both victims were treated for non-life-threatening knife wounds and released from medical care.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, the first stabbing was Monday, Aug. 18 as a 61-year-old man walked on U Street near 10th Street. The assailant was walking in the opposite direction toward the victim and stabbed him in the neck in passing.
The following Monday, Aug. 25, a 75-year-old man walking in the area of T and 10 streets was stabbed in the neck from behind.
Both victims were Asian and investigators are looking into whether that was a factor in the attacks.
Police believe the same man is responsible for both assaults. He was described as black, between the ages of 30 and 50 years old, and 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall. He had a medium build and short black hair. A composite drawing of the assailant is included with this story.
