Sacramento County deputies are trying to get a barricaded carjacking suspect out of a home Wednesday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Amar Gandhi with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, it all started around 11 a.m. as deputies were responding to an unrelated trespassing call at 18th and Elkhorn in Rio Linda.

Gandhi says the deputy witnessed a woman being carjacked in front of her home. The suspect then kicked the woman out of her vehicle and started driving in the direction of the deputy.

Gandhi says the deputy fired a shot in the direction of the vehicle, but investigators are unsure of where it landed. No one was injured in the shooting.

The suspect then drove away and later ran into a separate residence. The homeowner ran away, and the man barricaded himself inside, prompting a SWAT response.

The suspect has not yet been identified.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
