Opa! The Sacramento Greek Festival is back this weekend

Enjoy food, dancing and music!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Greek Festival returns for its 61st year this weekend.

Koula Gianulias with the Sacramento Greek Festival says they welcome about 8,000-10,000 people throughout the weekend.

"We’re thankful to the community for coming out year after year to share in the culture, to taste the food, to Greek dance on the dance floor. It’s really a great way to experience a trip to Greece without having to get on an airplane and travel there," said Gianulias.

She says it takes about 400 volunteers to put on this event.

Maria Sampanis has been the baklava chair for about 17 years.

"It’s a multi-step process, it’s one of the most complex pastries that we offer here at the Greek festival, but make sure you come and get some because it is the best," said Sampanis.

It's happening at 600 and 616 Alhambra Boulevard in Sacramento. You can attend the festival from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It ends at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission is $5, and kids 12 and under are free. Find more information here.
