Sacramento man arrested after suspected DUI crash kills passenger

Police say a 27-year-old driver was arrested after he reportedly crashed into a pole while under the influence, killing his passenger.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento man was arrested after he allegedly crashed into a pole while driving under the influence, killing his passenger.

The Sacramento Police Department says it happened around 8:15 p.m. Nov. 22 at Marysville Boulevard and Los Robles Boulevard.

Upon arrival officers found two people in the vehicle – one was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say the driver, 27-year-old Deandre Bess of Sacramento, was arrested Nov. 25 after being cleared from the hospital. He was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
