SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 26-year-old Sacramento man died Monday morning after crashing into the center divider wall on southbound Interstate 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 7:20 a.m. on I-5 southbound, north of 43rd Avenue. Upon arrival, CHP found the driver died from his injuries.
CHP said its preliminary investigation found the man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet sedan when he turned left for an unknown reason and crashed into the concrete center median. They believe he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Lanes of I-5 were closed for safety and reopened two hours later.
