1 dead, 1 hurt after car crash along Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento

A driver died and his passenger was hurt after the single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man died and his passenger was injured after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Sacramento, authorities said.

Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to the crash along the 4200 block of Auburn Boulevard and located the driver and his passenger, according to Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Officer Allison Smith. The vehicle is a sedan, she said.

Smith said officers performed life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to law enforcement.

Police said the crash remains under investigation, and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man after his family is notified. The scene of the crash is still active around 8 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic is not completely closed off in the area, but Smith said she anticipates some delay.
