1 dead, 1 injured after early-morning Oak Park shooting in Sacramento

A man was killed and another man hurt after a shooting along 4th Avenue. Police are asking the public to call in tips if they know anything.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man died and another man was hurt after a shooting early Saturday morning in Oak Park.

Just after 2:30 a.m., officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting on the 4000 block of 4th Avenue, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police said they located two men on scene; one suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound, and the other suffered a non-life-threatening injury. Both were transported to the hospital, authorities said.

The man with the life-threatening wound succumbed to his injury at the hospital, police said. 

Homicide detectives are investigating, and police said as of 11 a.m. Saturday they do not have any suspect information. Police ask anyone with incident details to contact them at 916-808-5471.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the victim's identity after his family has been notified.
