MCCLELLAN PARK, Calif. — A man was shot in the chest early Sunday morning in McClellan Park.
Around 12:45 a.m., deputies responded to Freedom Park near North Highlands after the man was reportedly shot in the chest, according to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi.
The area is adjacent to the Aerospace Museum of California, which stands on the grounds of the former McClellan Air Force Base. The base closed in July 2001.
Gandhi said the victim suffered life-threatening wounds. Deputies provided first aid, and he was transported to the hospital, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office said it does not have any suspect information.
