SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Two men were killed Saturday night within Sacramento County after two separate solo-vehicle crashes, authorities said.
Just before 10 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a crash on northbound Stockton Boulevard, north of Florin Road, according to CHP’s South Sacramento office spokesman Officer Mark Leavitt.
A 59-year-old man driving a Toyota Tacoma crashed off the roadway and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Leavitt said. As of Sunday morning, there was no indication the man was driving under the influence, he said.
Just after 10:30 p.m., CHP responded to a report of a separate crash on the 65th Street on-ramp to eastbound Highway 50, Leavitt said. Upon arrival, officers said they located a 32-year-old man with major injuries who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Leavitt said preliminary investigation indicates the man drove a silver BMW sedan at an unknown speed eastbound on Highway 50, west of 65th street. For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, crashed into a freeway sign and guardrail, and landed on the on-ramp to 65th Street before coming to rest on top of the south-most guardrail, according to CHP.
The driver’s identification will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office after his family has been notified.
