The AAPI Night Market in Sacramento: What to Know for 2024

The AAPI Night Market takes over Capitol Mall this Friday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A celebration of culture, local businesses, food and music is returning for a third year along Capitol Mall Friday.

The 2024 AAPI Night Market is playing host to 50 craft and food vendors along with two performances from Bay Area rapper P-Lo and electronic artist Tokimonsta. The event is put on by the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce.

“There is so much at the night market... if you're into music, we have headliners like P-Lo and Tokimonsta. If you're into food, we have a wide selection of food vendors available. This is a very easy time to chill with everybody as well,” said Trieu Nguyen, the chamber's graphic designer.

Tickets are live, for now. Here's what to know.

What is the AAPI Night Market?

The AAPI Night Market is a one-day celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander culture, food, music and more. It's a ticketed event that'll take place Friday, May 31.

"You're gonna see a lot of different food, retailers, artisans, artists, come together and celebrate what makes the small business community here in Sacramento so vibrant,” said Janice Segovia, events manager at the chamber.

Some of those vendors include: Kado's Asian Grill, My Lumpia Lady, Nox Barbecue, Pinorrito, Sushi Obsession, Why Not Boba, Wing Man, Baboy Boys, Cà Phê Ru and more

It's a lot of choice for only five hours, but Amy Hunter, foundation and sponsorship manager for the chamber, said people should take their time and walk the whole market if they can.

“We've even changed out our layout this year to really spread out our food and retail vendors on both ends of the market," she said. "So really just taking that time to see what there is and then maybe order one or two things from a handful of vendors is probably the best option so you can try a little bit of everything.”

A full list of food vendors and craft vendors is available HERE.

Outside of the food and crafts, a new feature for this year is the live art installation.

“This year, we've partnered with Francesca Gomez, who's the owner of 1810 Gallery in Midtown, and she's also a muralist… we'll actually be having a live art installation, where they're going to be doing live paintings that people can check out while they're at the market,” said Matt Sumida, director of marketing and community relations at the chamber.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are live now and cost $25. There's also a VIP ticket that costs $150, which comes with a number of perks and a special viewing area for the concerts. Tickets for kids 6 and under are free. Tickets won't be sold at the door.

The money from those tickets supports the Chamber's efforts in supporting economic development and small businesses.

Ticket information can be found HERE.

Is this for kids?

Lauren Oto, vice president of communications, everyone and anyone is welcome at the night market. There's no reason to call a babysitter if you want to bring the kids.

“We encourage you to bring your whole family out. It's kid-friendly. We do have a lot of our community vendors and our health and wellness area who will have activities for the kids,” said Oto.

When and Where is it?

The 2024 AAPI Night Market is scheduled for May 31. It runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Capitol Mall.
