159 jobs could be impacted as Amazon plans to close West Sacramento warehouse

According to a state filing, 159 employees who work at the warehouse will be impacted by the move.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Amazon is set to close a warehouse in Northern California next month impacting dozens of employees, the company announced Thursday.

An Amazon spokesperson told ABC10 the lease is coming up and the closure isn't about reducing the number of workers.

The facility located in West Sacramento at 3640 Ramos Drive will be closing on October 30, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Report.

According to the report, 159 employees who work at the warehouse will be impacted by the move. The company said it is finding new opportunities for impacted employees at nearby fulfillment sites.

“We’re always evaluating our network to make sure it fits our business needs and to improve the experience for our employees, customers, and partners. As part of that effort, we've decided not to renew the lease at our facilities in Irvine and West Sacramento, California," Sam Stephenson, a spokesperson for Amazon, said. "We appreciate our team’s hard work and commitment, and we’re supporting impacted employees to find new opportunities within Amazon, including at nearby fulfillment sites."

Amazon said customers won't be impacted by the closure.
