An outpouring of support for fallen Officer Tara O'Sullivan

A flood of prayer, condolences, and support on social media Thursday morning for the rookie Sacramento officer who was killed in the line of duty.

Blue ribbons and thin blue line flags line the streets of Sacramento communities to show support for fallen Officer Tara O'Sullivan, who died after being shot last Wednesday night while responding to a domestic disturbance call. A flood of love and support also continues to pour in across social media.

Tons of support poured in during the live stream of her memorial service and it shows that the community will never forget Officer O'Sullivan's bravery during her time on the force.

Support locally and nationally is pouring in after a Sacramento Police Officer was killed in the line of duty. 

Officer Tara O'Sullivan, 26, was responding to a domestic disturbance call and was helping the woman retrieve items from her home when a man began firing a rifle from the house, police confirmed. O'Sullivan was shot and was rushed to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

The man who allegedly shot and killed Officer O'Sullivan was taken into custody overnight, police officials said.

Social media was immediately flooded with words of sympathy and prayers for the fallen officer and her family. 

"To Tara’s parents and family, and Tara’s fellow officers, I am so sorry," Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said on social media. "As a father of a 25 year daughter, I grieve with you. As Mayor of the city Tara was sworn to protect, we are heartbroken..."

The Sacramento Police Department also tweeted their condolences, reminding people to keep O'Sullivan's family in their hearts and prayers.

Police departments and officers even as far as New York City and Orlando tweeted out their words of condolences for Sacramento and their loss.
