ATM found in the middle of the road in North Highlands

The sheriff's office said the ATM was taken from a Safe Credit Union location just up the road on Watt Avenue.

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — An ATM was found in the middle of the road in North Highlands Wednesday.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is investigating after reports of a hazard on Watt Avenue at Margaret Way around 6:15 a.m. later discovered to be an ATM in the road. 

The sheriff's office said the ATM was taken from a SAFE Credit Union location just up the road on Watt Avenue.

The ATM was still in the middle of the road as of 7:30 a.m.

SAFE Credit Union sent the following statement to ABC10: 

"SAFE Credit Union is working with law enforcement on this situation. Our members' security is our top priority and we take precautions to ensure their account information is safe. We ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office."
