CHP asking for public's help in finding a suspect in a hit-and-run

CHP said a person was hit by a vehicle on Walerga, north of Oak Hollow. The victim died from their injuries.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help finding the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run on June 15, 2024.

CHP said just after 8 p.m. on that day a person was hit by a vehicle on Walerga, north of Oak Hollow. The victim died from their injuries. 

Law enforcement on Monday released an image of the make and model of the suspect's vehicle. Law enforcement said the car could possibly be a red, 4 door, 2000-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Previously CHP identified the vehicle as a red four-door, 1998 to 2002 Toyota Corolla. They updated the information on Tuesday.

"The vehicle should have right front-end damage, broken headlight, and possibly broken windshield and/or right-side mirror," CHP said. "The vehicle was last seen northbound Walerga south of Penwick."
