Person dies in North Highlands hit-and-run

The crash happened on Watt and Orange Grove avenues Wednesday night.

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif — One person was killed after being hit by a car in North Highlands Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

The crash happened on Watt and Orange Grove avenues when the car hit the pedestrian and drove away from the scene.

Officials describe the car as a black 2011 Lexus GS350 with the license plate number 9ELX700 and damage to the right side, including missing the right side mirror.

Sacramento Metro Fire crews said the person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, but they have since died.
