Dad's Sandwiches in Sacramento says they're facing $1,000 loss after burglary

Marriott said this is the second time the business has been burglarized. The first happened around five years ago.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dad's Sandwiches is picking up the pieces after being burglarized early Saturday morning.

Surveillance video shared with ABC10 shows the moments after a person broke in and walked away with a cash register and more.

"I got here as fast as I could; at that point he was already gone," said Shann Marriott, owner of Dad's Sandwiches.

Marriott said it all started with a call from his alarm company Saturday morning. He then spotted someone inside the shop on his Ring cameras.

Marriott returned to find a smashed window, missing cash register and a missing tray from their second register. He said the thief even stole employee tip money.

He estimated they're facing a $1,000 loss with the stolen cash and damages.

"Being a small business and having a really small team, it's just me a couple guys who run this place. A thousand dollars may not be much to most people, but to us, that's devastating, especially the way the economy is going and how slow businesses are," Marriott said.

Marriott said this is the second time the business has been burglarized. The first happened around five years ago.

He hopes police will be able to find the person responsible.

"I've got cameras everywhere, we've got good footage of the guy," Marriott said.

Sacramento Police Department said they could not release any suspect information at this time. If you know anything about what happened, contact police.
