Global Winter Wonderland not returning to Cal Expo in Sacramento

After several years in Sacramento, the company that operates the holiday festival 'Global Winter Wonderland' has canceled the event to focus on a new business.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Fans of ‘Global Winter Wonderland,’ the popular holiday light festival in Sacramento, will need to find a new holiday tradition this year.

Operators for ‘Global Winter Wonderland’ confirmed on Facebook that the event will not be returning to Cal Expo in 2019. Instead, the company is focusing on a year-round venue it plans to open in the Bay Area next year.

“To all those who have inquired about whether we're coming back to Sacramento this year, we apologize for not responding sooner,” the company posted on Facebook. “We've focused all of our energy on a new venue in Northern California that will open in early 2020.”

That new venue is called Imaginarium360. Its website described the venue as “an immersive museum experience where you can visit playful and interactive exhibits.” It is scheduled to open in 2020 at Newpark Mall in Newark, CA.
